Create a Team of Leaders

Are you frustrated because your team is making a lot of mistakes? Or maybe they’re not bringing anything to the table and you feel like you’re pulling the team along toward your vision. It could be because you’re controlling instead of empowering your team.If a team member steps up to the plate with an idea and you shoot it down, they’re probably not going to do that again anytime soon. A tip to make sure that you’re empowering and not controlling or micromanaging your team is to make sure that you’re clear about the vision. What is the vision that you have for whatever it is that you want to accomplish? And then also focus on the outcome. What does a successful outcome look like?Let the team have some room in the middle to be innovative and creative and to bring their ideas to the table. They can make that vision a reality in your practice. When you do that, you’ll see that the team might have an idea that they’re bringing to the table that you would’ve completely missed out on had you gone in trying to control the situation. Sometimes this strategy takes a little longer because your team needs to build up trust that it really is safe for them to share their ideas, but in the long run you’re going to find that you have a team that can support you and bring ideas to the table that will support your vision.
